About Maria Nila
Maria Nila got its start in 1999, mixed up in a small garage in southern Sweden by the Wikström family. What started as a family project has since grown into a global haircare brand sold across 45 countries, though it's still family-run at heart. The brand takes its name from founder Ann's great-grandmother, whose respect for nature and wildlife shaped the philosophy behind every product the company makes today.
Maria Nila is built on a simple idea: professional results shouldn't come at the expense of animals or the planet. Every formula is 100% vegan, free from sulfates and parabens, and never tested on animals, backed by certifications from PETA, Leaping Bunny, and the Vegan Society. As a certified B Corp, the brand holds itself to high standards for sustainability, using climate-compensated packaging and continually pushing to innovate responsibly, including launching the world's first fully vegan professional wax collection.
From color-protecting shampoos and masks to styling products and hair oils, Maria Nila's range covers every hair type and concern while staying true to three core values: being friendly to hair, animals, and the environment, staying curious enough to challenge industry norms, and acting with honesty and transparency in everything the brand does.

Inspired by the alchemists who spent centuries studying the transformative power of natural ingredients, we craft professional hair products that give stylists the tools to work a little bit of magic behind the chair.
Every formula we create is developed with intention. Our products are 99% organic, natural, or naturally derived, and are Leaping Bunny certified, meaning no animal testing at any stage. We're proud to hold the Butterfly Mark certification, recognizing our commitment to rigorous environmental, social, and governance standards, and we produce using wind energy wherever possible, packaging our formulas in glass, aluminum, and other sustainable materials.

At Ash + Olive, we recycle all hair clippings, used foil, colour-tubes, excess hair colour and aerosol cans, diverting it from landfills & waterways ensuring that we help keep people and the planet beautiful! We can also now dispose of all PPE waste properly, including gloves, masks, single use wipes, and paper towel.
